My students need one-to-one technology in order to efficiently produce our school's yearbook. These Chromebooks (and the required charging station) will ensure that they have the technology necessary to be successful students right at their hands.
Our school is comprised of a wonderfully diverse population. We are home to children from all across the world who speak several different languages, children who represent varying household incomes, and children who are eager to experience life outside of their neighborhoods. Many of our students struggle to find personal connections with their education. My goal is to help bridge that gap through photography. I want my students to share their world through their photography. Which in turn, will help them to see the world through the eyes of others and help them to find the joys of learning something new.
My Project
Having these Chromebooks would make a difference in my students' learning because we would never have to worry about reserving lab space again. Unfortunately, my school is not currently one-to-one in regards to technology. In order for my students to work on the production of the school's yearbook, we have to reserve lab space in our computer lab that still uses outdated desktops. While these computers still serve their purpose, they are old and slow. Chromebooks would not only allow my students to stay inside the comforts of my classroom, they would also guarantee a more efficient yearbook product because of their updated processing speeds. Having such wonderful technology would undoubtedly improve my students' school lives because the pride they take in being solely responsible for our school's number one PR tool would increase because of the endless capabilities the new technology would provide.
