Help me give my students the differentiated materials they need (like write & wipe markers, write & wipe boards, and math manipulatives) to achieve their learning goals!
My first grade students come to school everyday enthusiastic and ready to learn! My classroom is an integrated, co-taught class where differentiated instruction is provided all day, every day, to ensure the needs of this diverse group of learners are met.
My school district is one of the lowest performing in our city, 97% of our students are living in poverty.
However, this does not prevent us from providing our students with a rigorous learning environment. I believe that all students are capable of reaching their goals, we just need to provide them with the support they need to succeed!
My Project
The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The write & wipe boards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.
The magnetic write & wipe boards (with markers and eraser caps), dice, ten frame paddles and ten frames will allow me to provide the differentiated materials that my students often need in order to meet the learning goal.
