I am requesting a large rug that will seat up to 30 students. Currently, my classroom rug only has 20 spots for 26 children. The learning rug is the center of my first grade classroom where many important interactions take place. Currently, six of my students have to sit in chairs during whole class instruction. When we have circle time students have to sit on the floor because we cannot all fit around the perimeter of the rug. Our school is focusing on having rich discussions this year. By having a larger rug all students would be able to have a comfortable spot on the rug to share their ideas with their peers.
