One Easel Can CHANGE the World!

Help me give my students ! Physical space is extremely important and each one of these items will help my students organize themselves and their education. This executive functioning skill is extremely important.

My Students

My students are wonderful.

I came into teaching as a Teach For America corps member and am still a teacher in New Haven Public Schools.

I am an openly LGBT teacher here in New Haven and teach at the most diverse school in the whole city.

My students come from all over the world and speak a multitude of different languages. I am constantly learning about new cultures and different traditions, I am truly enriched on a daily basis.

Academically my students can range anywhere from 1st grade to 8th grade or high school levels, but no matter their current status every student focuses on their growth and soft skill building. My students show an incredible amount of grit when faced with a tough math problem and display flexibility that college level mathematicians might not have. In science the diverse backgrounds of my students insight a curiosity in themselves and in the world around them. They are not only developing content knowledge in both subjects, but are developing the necessary inner workings that will help them develop into the problem solvers of the future.

My Project

These materials are all mainly focused on simplifying the education of my students. Even though I teach one class at a time, I am really running three to four lessons at the same time, due to my students learning needs.

My class is full of diverse learners, how lucky am I?

I love highlighting this diversity both in their identity, but also in their learning modalities. These products, specifically the posterboard, easel and printer will allow me to provide instruction that is color coordinated, engaging and sticky.

The age band I teach (5th grade) also can struggle with organization, things like the extra pencils, paper organizer and materials organizer will allow them to focus on the education entirely and never have to worry where their pencil or homework is!
