My Project

Imagine a classroom where every student has the opportunity to hold the same book, turn the same pages, and engage in meaningful conversations that connect literature to the world around them. That is the experience I want to create for my 8th-grade students.

I am requesting a class set of 30 copies of All American Boys so my students can participate in a shared reading experience.

This award-winning novel explores themes of identity, friendship, justice, empathy, and courage through the perspectives of two teenagers whose lives become intertwined after a life-changing event. The story encourages students to think critically, consider multiple viewpoints, and engage in respectful discussions about complex issues that are relevant to their lives.

Many of my students have limited access to books at home, and owning a copy during our unit allows them to annotate, revisit passages, and build confidenas readers. Reading together as a class also strengthens comprehension, vocabulary, writing skills, and classroom community.

Your generosity will provide every student with the opportunity to read, reflect, and grow through literature that is both engaging and meaningful. Together, we can help students discover that books have the power to inspire empathy, spark conversation, and change lives.
