This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our elementary students define the word potential. The students here are an inquisitive bunch thirsty for world experiences. Our students want what all students want, a safe environment to learn. They desire strong academics matched with respect. Opportunities for success are sometimes limited, but this does not stop our students from their basic needs.
Just like all students, they deserve the very best.
Our elementary school is a neighborhood school in Southwest Philadelphia. The student body is very diverse with a mix of longtime Philly folks to First generation Americans.
Our elementary school has a proud history and a bright future. Like other schools, we struggle with issues of 21st-century communities, but we want what’s best for our community.
My Project
Sometimes things happen. During the last school year our class was afforded 17 Chromebooks. They were great and put to good use all year. Unfortunately, during a transition one of our Chromebooks was damaged beyond reasonable repair.
My goal is to have that Chromebook replaced so we can get as close as possible to a 1:1 class.
Our students were so very proud of the set of Chromebooks we were granted.
After the one was damaged, the class was so disappointed. They all felt horrible that this accident happened. I am confident that our students will take great pride in this new Chromebook.
