Once Upon A Time

My Students

I am lucky to see all 318 students in my school each week and my students know that when they come to my class, I am going to ask them to be actively engaged in our learning. We could be exploring new genres of literature, evaluating apps and websites for research, responding to writings, or maybe even partaking in rounds of musical book chairs! Learning comes in all forms in my class!

My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including family makeup, socioeconomic status, language, religion, and educational backgrounds.

With this variety comes a wide range of abilities and my job is to reach each and every one of them with every lesson I teach.

My Project

Traditional fairy tales are always a popular choice with my students and I would love to provide them more of an opportunity to read and explore multicultural versions of their favorites. Seeing how other cultures and regions share tales that are familiar yet different gives my students a different view of the world around them.

Collaborating with my teachers on their fairy tale reading and writing unit, these books will provide recently published and alternate versions of classic tales.

Using these books in their lessons, teachers will assist students in identifying characters, conflict as well as fairy tale story structure.
