My students need opportunities to express their learning in different ways.

My Students
At my school, ninth grade students arrive from several feeder districts, so our freshman class is full of people just getting to know each other. However, as they become full-fledged members of our school community, they take part in the promise to exhibit the core values of a HAWK: honest, ambitious, well-rounded, and kind. What they find when they get here and make that promise is a place--a place in our family and our community. Older students take time out of their schedule to mentor, tutor, and provide opportunities to help not only our freshmen but all students at out school in whatever ways are needed. It is a special place to be and I am lucky to be here.
My Project
Once Upon a Time there was a teacher who was looking for a more personalized way for students to demonstrate their learning. She looked and looked and looked for a magical device that would allow students a way to build critical thinking skills; deepen collaboration, communication, and presentation skills; and give students more confidence when presenting in front of an audience. As she ravaged the internet kingdom for such a device, she found Storyboard That--an app that allows students to create digital storyboards! Suddenly, her students were saved! They could diagram narrative structures, study literary elements, and visualize symbolism in a way they had never been able to do before!
Only $449.94, donations will serve every freshman at my school and give them access to this magical tool.
