This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Kids engineer happier endings to fairy tales—as they design a house that can’t be blown down, construct a bridge that keeps 3 goats safe from the troll and build a chair even Goldilocks can’t break! Our kits help children discover the STEM in their favorite fairy tales—and naturally inspire them to explore each challenging situation until they find a solution! Each kit comes with a STEM-focused story card, building materials, a guide, plus student and teacher cards with lesson plans and full support. This kit includes 3 Creating STEM kits based on fairy tales an imaginative approach to problem-solving!

Integrating storytelling with STEM concepts can enhance creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in children.

In the "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" story, students can involve engineering challenges related to building bridges, while "The Three Little Pigs" can focus on designing and testing different materials for building houses.

This basic kit will help teachers and students explore additional STEM concepts through each fairy tale including physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and more. For instance, "Goldilocks" can introduce concepts of simple machines and motion through designing and lever to move Goldilocks out of the bed.

By integrating Fairy Tales Problem Solving STEM Kits into the PA STEELS curriculum, I can create engaging and interdisciplinary learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of STEM concepts within the context of familiar and captivating narrative.
