My Students

I teach a group of first grade students who are enthusiastic about learning. They love to be challenged and love to think outside of the box. One way that they love to enhance their learning is through reading. In our classroom, we integrate math, social studies, science, writing, and language arts through reading. My students are always excited to open up a new book to begin learning something new!

I love seeing the excitement on my students' faces when they get the opportunity to open up a new book.

Our school is located in a rural part of North Carolina, where our students come from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic statuses.

My Project

My students' favorite part of the school day is when they get to read! We use mentor texts for read alouds, they read with a buddy, and they practice reading independently. My students constantly love to enhance their learning through reading. In our classroom, we integrate different subjects such as math, science, social studies, writing, and language arts through reading. By doing this, students stay highly engaged and motivated. It also allows students to continuously make connections to their background knowledge and past experience.

Reading is one of the most important things parents and teachers can do with children.

All of the books included will serve a purpose in our classroom. They will be available in our classroom library and we will use them during read alouds to help teach different standards. The students will be so excited to read new books!
