Our students are budding artists, actors, scientists, writers, or pretty much whatever they choose to be! But because our school is located in a lower socioeconomic area, many of these kids don't have a lot of opportunities to experience the arts. So, as much as is possible, our sixth grade team does what we can to immerse these kids in activities that will enrich their lives.
Our tradition of performing a Shakespeare play has become something for kids to look forward to as they progress through the grades.
It gives these children a chance to do something challenging and fun, and provides another boost to their self-confidence. To watch them go from being shy and unsure to delivering their lines in a way that honors Shakespeare is something to behold.
Please help us develop and improve this important program! Thank you!
My Project
Creating a special experience for kids is tricky, at best. Producing a Shakespeare play with sixth graders is especially challenging, more notably on a shoestring budget! Our sixth grade team would like to give our students an experience that will make a difference in their lives.
Beautiful costumes will help our students feel confident and purposeful as they tackle the words of the master, Shakespeare.
Knowing they "look" the part will help them immerse themselves and get the most out of the experience. We try hard to be resourceful and thrifty, and we have developed some clever props through the years, but costumes are always the hardest, and are probably the most important. Please help us purchase these few costumes and help our kids sparkle on stage! Thank you!
