My students need to have a specialized cart to help keep all their equipment in one place yet be easier for teachers to move with each recess and at end of day for storage.
Our kindergarten students are such a fun and creative group. As they are growing, they are beginning to to pull together as a team. I'd like to see them have the opportunity outside to participate in more structured team activities. Now that we have been funded for good PE equipment, we need a good place to easily use and store it. Having this equipment rack will help facilitate their having easy access each day when they go outside, but will also make it easier to store the equipment each night. Of course, this equipment would be shared with all five of the kindergarten and one TK classes as we rotate outside time. Having something easily portable will make it easier to make sure the children always have access to good equipment and keep it from being broken or lost.
My Project
Studies have shown how the benefit of physical education increases learning. Having needed supplies handy for our kindergarten staff to use each day will assist in this process. Children can learn teamwork by doing soccer drills. They can learn hand-eye coordination as they learn to bounce a ball or shoot a hoop.
All the skills that children learn outside playing will greatly increase their success in the classroom.
We all know that when something is easily available, it's used far more often. Having a great place to hold all the equipment that any kindergarten teacher can roll around as needed will greatly increase the chance of the equipment being used. It also allows the children to develop the skills and responsibility for cleaning up and organizing their equipment, which can also later transfer into needed life skills.
