My Students

Every school day, I love observing the diverse strengths each child possesses and how they grow so much each and every day! When you walk into my third-grade classroom, you will see a room filled with scientists, musicians, artists, authors, athletes, dreamers, and scholars.

As a teacher I am always looking for engaging ways to help transform my lessons to make them exciting and engaging for my 3rd graders!

Despite all of my students' academic differences, I love seeing them come together and work as a team! The students enjoy lessons with opportunities to work together and collaborate with partners and small groups.

This is my third year teaching in an elementary classroom and I couldn't be more thrilled to see these eager learners enter my classroom and continue to grow throughout the year! The 20 active learners in my classroom are all connected by homes in rural South Dakota. About 47% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

My students are creative, fun, eager learners. I want to create unique experiences where they will remember their learning! These kids continuously put a smile on my face and are the reason I love coming to school each day!

My Project

When asking my students the question, "Where do you like to learn best?" Their responses were in a cozy spot, laying down on the carpet, at a table working with a group, on a comfortable beanbag, using a wobble stool/cushion, and many others. This got me thinking about ways to add more flexible seating options to my room to help my students learn where they learn best!

Seating that allows movement and choice gives students comfort and more ownership of their learning!

My students enjoy working and learning with partners throughout the room. These seating options will allow them to be more comfortable and able to focus their energy on learning. They will also help students who have difficulty remaining still during group lessons. Flexible seating allows students to move their bodies without calling attention to themselves or distracting classmates. When students are comfortable and have choice in their classroom learning environment they will enjoy learning more!
