Imagine being a first grader again. Your neighbor has a new reading tool, an e-reader. You watch as your friend browses a whole library right in his hands, chooses a book that looks interesting to him, and starts reading. You want to read with him, but the screen is hard to see.
I teach a class of enthusiastic first graders who are all eager to learn every day!
We work hard each day to grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and members of our classroom family, school family, and our community. We work together in a school that has lots of family involvement. Our school is a place where students, families, and teachers believe in the importance of education. I strive each day to help my students find joy in their lives from being together and learning. Our class is a wonderful place to be!
My Project
Due to a recent move to a new school, I have had to bid a sad farewell to my wonderful Nook collection which will soon find a new home with a good teacher. I am starting over at my new school with only one black and white e-reader and one tablet e-reader.
Children LOVE using the Nooks and are quite motivated to have a turn to use them. I wish I had enough Nooks for each student to have one because they get so excited about reading with the Nooks! I have requested one Nook tablet and case to start building a new Nook library in my classroom.
I purchase e-books for the Nooks with my own money each month. I take requests from students for books that they want to read. I also make sure that I purchase a wide range of books at many reading levels and from a variety of genres. I have an extensive collection of Nook books I have purchased over the past three years that are eagerly awaiting their new "home" with your donation.
My children would be so thankful for your help.
