Our rural k-12 school in North Texas can be found in the middle of cotton fields and farmhouses. It is a small school with a little over one hundred students. Most classes have 6-8 students each. The majority of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.
Our students either live close to the school or in one of the small surrounding towns.
The nearest large city is 1 hour 15 min away. Our focus as a school is to prepare the students for post-graduation (college, job, military).
These requested new Webster's New Explorer large print dictionaries will be used to do old-fashioned word work with my 5th-8th grade reading classes and 5th/6th grade writing classes. Being able to use a dictionary to look up words is an essential key to a student's education. It is becoming a lost art with all of the technology we have in the world these days.
Several of my classroom dictionaries were copyrighted in 1994 and the other ones from 2003.
Many of the words I have my students look up are not in these older dictionaries.
My classes would really benefit from having these newer large-print dictionaries for years to come.
