My Project

Uh-oh, it's crock season in the gym. This is the time to be safe because you’re in the gym. I’m not talking about crocodiles, I am talking about improper shoes in the gym, like crocks. I noticed injuries from running when children wore the wrong shoes. For example, Harlem has crocks with cute Pokemon tabs stuck into the holes of his shoes, but they always seem to fly across the room. Or Haley with her shiny, sparkly one-inch heels to match her princess dress. Now, I admit that I am all about fashion. However, I am a huge proponent of children’s safety, and having Haley sit down because she is not wearing running shoes in PE is not ideal. I do not want her or any child to be hurt.

Every student I teach is very special and I treat every child as if they were my own.

I want the best opportunities for my children to showcase their talents. At Wilkes, 56% of the student population is of Hispanic descent. This community loves to play soccer which means there is a lot of running. To enhance running the students need proper shoes. If the student sits out, they will miss PE, but students will be safe. These items requested will make a difference in the student's learning because students can wear the proper shoes, participate in PE, and enhance their running while being safe. This request is for a hanging shoe rack and a variety of shoes to ensure the student's safety. The rack and shoes will be kept in the storage area with easy access to exchange the shoes when needed. Also, the shoes and rack will ensure every child has equity in the gym and help showcase student growth safely. Thank you.
