My Students

My students are such hard-workers! We are busy writers, readers and mathematicians all throughout the week and we really look forward to our time to express ourselves through art!

My students are eager First grade learners!

I am proud to work on a Military Base in Southern California and serve our military families. I feel like I am doing my part for our country when I am educating our heroes' children! Our school is over 60 years old. We are a K-8 school situated in the low-income housing district on base. It seems like we never have enough of anything! Art supplies like oil pastels are a very rare luxury!

My Project

Once a month, my students are involved with Art Appreciation lessons based around the "Masters." My kids love learning about, and being able to recognize, famous painters like Picasso, Van Gogh, Seurat and Kandinsky. Some of my students have even started collecting prints of some famous works of art! With these oil pastel sets, my students will be able to recreate beautiful paintings like Van Gogh's Starry Night; to practice his use of line and shape first hand with this versatile medium would be a gift to my students!

This project will make a difference to my students by allowing them to more fully appreciate the components of the art techniques they are learning about through direct application.

The art created with these pastels will be perfect for our Art Display during Open House!
