My Project

Ohana Haven is a project designed to provide students with a safe, calming, and inclusive space to develop essential life skills, explore their interests and creativity, and engage with their communities. It is important for me to help create a generation of socially conscious, emotionally resilient, highly compassionate, and culturally competent leaders who will contribute positively to the future of Baltimore and beyond. And, with your support that goal is attainable!

By integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) principles with multimedia production, I aim to empower my students to become confident, compassionate, and culturally aware individuals who can positively impact their lives, their school and broader community.

Students are encouraged to explore and address relevant topics in their school and community through multimedia productions, with a focus on mental health awareness and appreciation for diverse cultures.

The STEM VR Tech Kit will be used to help students learn and have a better understanding of STEAM concepts which will be essential in preparing them for the careers of tomorrow. Teaching kids multimedia skills develops their critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration capabilities and demystifies media and IT technologies. And, through SEL principles integrated into real-life scenarios and projects, students can acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities and relationships, improve emotional intelligence, and become compassionate leaders. The social emotional tools and educational resources requested will be used to motivate and inspire students, support student learning, and support students in regulating their intense emotions.

Together, we can empower students to apply their learning in meaningful ways both inside and outside the classroom and unleash their full potential! Our students' success will be measured through checks-for-understanding and the completion of service-learning projects focused on promoting awareness, unity, compassion, and change in their life and the community!
