Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a very high needs school in the Bronx. We have limited learning tools and books. I am looking for ways to make learning more accessible to my students.

My goal is to bring the world of reading, math, social studies, science and writing to their fingertips.

In the world my students live in, stability is hard to find. I do my best to create a stable and secure learning environment for my students. Many students in my class don't have a stable home life. I provide this for them each day and make their lives as full as I can.

In my class, we practice growth mindset and think about how we can grow academically, socially, and emotionally each day. Your contribution can help them, too!

My Project

My students are working so hard to read on a higher reading level. We have been working on their comprehension, inferring and predicting skills.

Unfortunately, they are bored with the same small amount of series books in my class.

Some books are missing pages and covers. Most are taped together in an attempt to save them.

While I would hate to throw these books out, many of them have been to the book hospital one too many times. I know that having these new books will enable my students to grow as learners.

They love reading and writing, and these books will help them grow and become the best young scholars they can be.
