My Project

The students in my classrooms come from a variety of social, academic, and economic backgrounds. Early learning experiences for these children have been drastically different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of our differences, our classroom is a place where students embrace connections made across content areas as we develop as learners and community members.

Children need opportunities to learn about emotions, identify them, and regulate their feelings!

The most critical component of my job during this time is to bring JOY to children's learning experience by helping learning come to life! The books will give us the ability to learn about feelings as we begin to identify them in ourselves and social experiences at school. The emotion stones will be used during play based experiences as children become familiar with their feelings and the management of them in positive, appropriate ways. The Yoga Tool Kit will provide experiences to bring Yoga into the classroom as a tool to manage our strong emotions in appropriate ways to calm down our bodies.

These materials will also provide experiences that allow them to acknowledge, understand, and regulate the many emotions they constantly experience due to how the pandemic has shaped their early lives as we continue to build our classroom community and school family.
