Many of my students do not speak English as their first language, or have additional special educational needs. Because of this, they love to learn through hands-on engaging activities and through technology. This helps them to feel (and be) successful in learning.
The first grade students in my class are an excited bunch who love to learn.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is a main focus at my school and my students really enjoy learning these subjects. I try to teach them at a young age that persevering until they understand something, even if it isn't easy, is the best way to grow their minds.
My Project
Our school is privileged to have been awarded a 1:1 technology grant, which means that every student in our school is assigned a Chromebook that they can use throughout the school day. This is an amazing opportunity for me as a teacher, because I can use technology to help advance my students' education in a way that will assist them in becoming successful in today's world. One problem, however, is that the inexpensive earbuds we have used in the past do not fit into my little first graders' ears and break easily. This has become a constant struggle to help them hear the content that is presented on their computers.
With these new headphones, my students will be able to discover the magic of learning through technology.
No longer will they need to spend their time battling with ear buds that are too big for their ears and that break effortlessly. Instead, they will be able to use their time listening to stories that are read to them, play review games, and create many types of projects. The possibilities are endless! Thank you for being willing to donate to this project and help my class get the education they need and deserve.
