Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Speech Language Pathologist working in a special needs school for students with autism and other multiple disabilities. I have a mixture of verbal and nonverbal students from various counties from across New Jersey. We love learning in various ways in our school with hands-on materials and a multi-sensory approach. My students are very active and love to be engaged in their learning. We like do science, social skills, pretend play, and engage in sensory-based learning.
The more visual and tactile materials we have to engage the students with the better!
They learn from touching, feeling, examining using all their senses in order to be active learners.
My Project
My students are each very unique and special. They each have strengths and weaknesses in various auditory, verbal and visual abilities. Most of my students require visual aids in order to be effective learners. The "Cricut" machine would greatly enhance their learning experience through creating unique visuals for each subject matter. For the upcoming "Read across America" week of activities we can help the students' bring the world of Dr. Seuss to life by creating manipulative and visuals that can ignite every student's imagination. Oh the places you'll go .........
We can go on this journey together with your help!
