Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Oh, the Places You'll Go!, a book illustrated and written by Dr. Seuss is a stepping stone for my second grade students. I feel honored to have such a great group of thriving individuals who not only speak one language but are learning a second language. These young minds are eager to learn and anxious to share everything they have learned.
My students come from very low income families who do not have the means to travel to nearby places much less other areas of our wonderful world.
Due to their financial situation, basic needs fall first to anything else, as it should be. Their world like that of their parents is limited to what surrounds them. Travel and education like everything else is limited and many times not even something considered as feasible. This becomes their whole world.
My Project
Exposing students to Our World, Its People and Cultures is my goal. Students are low-income and do not have the opportunity to travel. Where and how they live is the only world they know. The Learning Tolerance Game/ Lessons and hands-on World Puzzles will expose the students to how large our world is, to learn the continents, other countries, and create a global awareness. The ability to learn and dream of what is out there for them to experience.
There is a whole world out there, full of cultures and people they can learn about.
