My Students

I teach in an Exceptional Student Education Pre-K classroom in a low-income school in Panama City, Florida. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My children have special needs which includes speech delays, language impairments, behavior challenges, and developmental delays which require unique learning opportunities to engage them in learning. I am looking to keep things exciting and fun in our classroom to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences in class.

My Project

The combination of rhymes and new words in Seuss’ works challenges kids in a way other children’s literature doesn’t always do. Typically, children are going to know that “glupitty-glup” and “wocket” aren’t real words. They will, however, learn that language can be played with, and they’ll gain confidence in their own reading ability. This book is a favorite of every child in my class and I would love to see them practicing their reading skills over the summer with their very own copy of Dr. Seuss' Oh The Places You Will Go. This book can supply motivation for reading like no other!
