My Students

My students are from BEAUTIFUL Brooklyn, NY. They are 8th graders who WERE excited about their last year of Middle School. They were anticipating their Senior trip, Senior Awards Night, Prom, and Graduation. But then, the pandemic hit. They are now home with little to look forward to. As it is, there's not even a certainty that they will get to start High School in the Fall.

My Project

My students have had their last year of Middle School total destroyed. Just as they were about to start enjoying the benefit of three years of hard work, the pandemic hit. Today, the Governor of NY officially closed school for the rest of the year. This means that the Senior trip, Prom, and Graduation that they had all planned on enjoying are no more.

At the end of each year, one of the last things I do with my Home Room class is to read Dr. Seuss's classic book, Oh the Place's You'll Go.

This year, I will not be able to read this to them and have them think of all the places they will go in person. BUT, I can mail each of them a copy of this book with a note from me inside to remember they they will go many places in life. Better days are ahead.
