Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I school in a small farming town. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch and breakfast. Fifty-three percent of our students are English learners. Although we are located in an older neighborhood, it is a tight-knit community with lots of family support.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire" - William Butler Yeats.
My students are inquisitive with a desire to explore and grow. They are eager to learn but have had limited opportunities for enrichment outside of school. I started a Makerspace in the library and the response has been AMAZING. My students are so excited they don't want to leave!
My Project
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, my students have the opportunity to tinker and build in our new library makerspace!
The makerspace has totally transformed the library into a warm and inviting environment where students can explore, problem solve and collaborate.
Our library has minimal storage space. It does not have a storage room or even a closet. Our makerspace tools and supplies are crammed into every nook and cranny. It is starting to look quite cluttered, not the best environment for creativity.
This project is for a Hon storage cabinet. My students and I would love to have extra storage to house our makerspace items when not in use.
