Ms. Cox from Baltimore MD is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a document camera to have accessibility to visuals and modeled procedures.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Many times students have a difficult time sitting still and being focused on an activity for more than a few minutes. In a classroom of 25, seeing and experiencing actual hands on demonstrations in class is so much more captivating and interesting than seeing it in a book or being told.
In my classroom there is a large mix of student abilities but all are exposed to experiential learning.
I believe that students learn best through experience and discovery type activities. The activities provide them with basis to form their own conclusions and frame their own learning. Secondly, many times students need that opportunity to steps being taken to arrive at a particular answer. Some students learn best by having a visual.
Students will be able to present and view each others' work/demonstrations by using this document camera. Sharing/critiquing/revising is an integral part of learning and allows students to experience the "wow" of someones learning and experience. Teachers will use this camera to allow all students to experience teacher demos as well.
This project will allow my students to actively participate and learn about relevant issues that are related to our themes.
Using the document camera they can share their learning with classmates and learn to become critical thinkers. Students will be able to view and share the demonstrations and student examples, up close, in class through the use of a document camera.
