Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a school based occupational therapist serving kids with autism and other diagnoses that approach learning differently. They are creative, energetic, curious and engage and learn from with the world around them through their sensory systems. We need materials to support their distinct way of learning.
My Project
Being able to supply these students with new materials and tools will elevate their classroom engagement, motivation to learn and bring meaning to their education. We will be able to have successful small groups focusing on fine motor, sensory motor, and visual motor skills because of materials that matter and make a difference. Providing these students with classroom supplies that make sense and support their distinct learning styles will mean the world to us, and offer opportunities of exploration, curiosity and fun. Having these materials to work with will provide endless combinations of learning and growing together.
