This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students cover the whole spectrum. They are of different ages, ethnicities, religions, talent, countries, languages, wealth, and so many other demographics. Despite their differences, they do have at least one thing in common. They recognize that music and the arts have changed their lives in a positive way and they continue to grow and learn.

Our school is at the highest poverty level in the country.

Nearly all of the students qualify for food assistance. These students are not afraid to work for what they need in life and they inspire me every day.

My Project

This Spring our intermediate and advanced guitar classes are planning to travel to Dallas, TX to record an eclectic album. This project will be a culmination of the music my students have worked on all year including guitar duos, trios, large ensemble, and vocalists.

This experience will be an immersive hands on project where students will see into the technological world of the music media industry.

This project is performance based. Performing a routine act under pressure is one of the most valuable skills a music teacher can impart on their students. Best of all, my students will get a copy of the album to remember this experience by!
