Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a blended classroom that consists of a diverse crowd of special needs students, English language learners, and students from the general education population.

My students range in age from three to five years old.

As a Special Education teacher, I serve a diverse crowd of students with special needs. The students I serve are mostly African-American and Hispanic. My students come from low socioeconomic circumstances. The parents and community try their best to support these students. These students inspire me to be a better teacher and person, and I learn from them daily. The uniqueness each of my students brings to the class is unimaginable.

My Project

This past year, I was switched to a full-day blended preschool classroom because our school was recently lucky enough to open up a new full-day classroom that gives my special needs students full access to the general education classroom! While the classroom was supplied with new furniture, a rug, and some great center activities, it does not "match up" to what my students had access to in the half-day blended preschool classroom.

That is why I am requesting a variety of math and literacy manipulatives in order for my students to focus on their academic skills in a fun and engaging way!

My students are wonderful little humans, who just love coming to school and learning new things, with these materials requested, it would allow for their learning experience to be that much more memorable!
