Nutritious Snacks

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students can change their mood in a moment, from hangry and tired to happy and energized, from just one snack. Some of our students are coming to school hungry and the food they receive for breakfast may only be a poptart or sugary cereal that lacks the nutrients their bodies crave. I have not come across a nut allergy yet and my students enjoy trail mix and fruit bars between meals to keep their brains focused on their work and not their growling tummies. We are also growing a garden next to the playground. The kids are especially excited to make overnight pickles with our cucumbers.
