My Students

I teach middle school Family and Consumer Sciences classes. All students at KA are enrolled in my classes in 6th and 8th grade. I have the opportunity to teach my students about valuable life skills such as career exploration, money management, social and emotional wellness and my personal favorite, cooking and nutrition.

KA is a charter school that focuses on inquiry and project based learning, the students come through our doors hoping to be inspired, innovative, and creative.

My Project

I want to show teens that eating nutritious foods can also be easy and delicious. The Ninja system will be used in my classroom as a blender, food processor, and spiralizer to create zoodles, bisque, hummus, dressings, green smoothies and so much more.

Home cooking is key to a nutritious diet, and a nutritious diet is essential to one's overall wellness.

Given my limited class time, the Ninja system will provide me with an opportunity to introduce students to new foods and recipes. Giving them the exposure needed to bring the recipes into their own homes. Hopefully building a life-long love of cooking.
