Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are my heart and my babies! They are part of a culturally diverse school which serves students and families from the low income community here in Koreatown. They are mostly English language learners with Korean, Ethiopian and Latin backgrounds. All just want to learn while having fun and thriving. Though they are all part of a school that supports them even though classroom space, learning material and resources are limited.

Each of my 25 students has a unique personality and eagerness to learn no matter what!

My students are kind, compassionate, creative and intelligent! They are always eager to learn new things. They are natural explorers who love being outdoors. They have grown to be very curious by always asking questions about the world around them and leaping towards hands-on experience every chance they get.

Through art, music and cooperatives play, my students are learning how to express themselves while strengthening their social emotional skills. My students' best days are spent here in my classroom. They look forward to learning and coming back for more. At the end of the day, some do not even want to leave.

My Project

Because of COVID my students don't have the proper materials and supplies at home to encourage math development. Though they are learning to be creative and resourceful with household items; I would really love to gift them with the right tools that they need to be successful this school year. Currently this is an area of struggle. This project will provide each student with a math counting kit. It includes easy-grip magnets to count and fill in the blank numbers. They will get hands-on practice with counting, matching numbers to quantities and sequencing!
