My Students

My students know what they are in school for. They are so eager to learn and participate in all aspects of classroom activities. We enjoy reading, phonics, and math activities with science and social studies mixed in to make it meaningful. My students have really begun to transfer their learning to different disciplines which makes for exciting lessons.

Math has become a passion for me in the last few years and I have noticed that my kids overall lack number sense.

They haven't had the experience with working with counting, 1-1 correspondence, and subitizing. The kit that I am requesting will help me better meet their needs in this area.

My Project

Children must have number sense to understand math. These materials will help develop that understanding by allowing the students to look at numbers in different ways.

This allows them to be flexible in their thinking.

The greater flexibility they have with numbers helps them understand how they work. This will enhance their understanding of the mathematical principals taught in my classroom.

Number talks, which is a large part of this product, are so important to not only teach new processes but to gain an understanding of how my students think about numbers. This product will help me become a better teacher of mathematics!
