Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is dynamic. We have a very active Math class and we complete art projects nearly every week. We work with paper, pencil, glue, scissors, and of course our computers. Our computer time in invaluable and provides support for all of our academic subjects.

My classroom is filled with eager, interested, and active students who enjoy learning and being together.

We are a diverse group coming from many varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is fantastic. We are unified in working to build a collective culture that celebrates positive behaviors. Our focus is on having the students be safe, peaceful, responsible, respectful and to always do their best.

My Project

We are so lucky in our district to have a class set of Chromebooks in every 3rd grade classroom. We take full advantage of each and every student having a computer. We have five programs that we use weekly, if not daily. These programs require the students wear headphones. The majority of our headphones are broken and do not work. The remainder are only working through one side. I spend a good part of my class time switching headphones and trying to get them to work. It is really slowing us down. A class set of new headphones would improve so much in our class.

By having a working pair of headphones my students will be able to accomplish their tasks much more quickly and quietly.

My students are using audio programs daily that help them improve their reading and comprehension. If they are forced to switch and play around with their headphones it seriously cuts into their learning time.
