My Students
Our school serves a low income, high needs population. Over the past five years, our choral program has grown from nothing to a vibrant, creative community of three diverse choirs serving any student who wants to participate. These students are talented, driven, smart, creative, and kind.
Music gives our students a platform to express their emotions, create community, and touch lives.
They are working tirelessly to improve their skills and share their music with the school community and area community at-large.
My Project
Progress is measured in the choral classroom in many ways: through formative assessment in every rehearsal, summative assessment in performance, personal feedback on how a performance felt, and connections between students, the community, and the music itself.
Capturing memories of student work fosters pride and confidence.
A high-quality audio recording helps students analyze their work as a large group, gives students access to part recordings so they can learn their music in new ways outside of class, records performances for students, families, and community members to listen to for years to come, and provides a record of progress and accomplishments.
Some students choose to pursue honor choirs or college degrees that require audition recordings. Having a high-quality recording device can help those students make great recordings without having to spend their own money on equipment. It encourages excellence.
