Novels: Inquiring Minds Want to Know About These Authors

In order to satisfy our state Language Arts standards, my students immersed themselves in a year long Author Study. Working in groups (and independently at times) students researched the author's life, read their works, prepared visual and oral presentations, and completed a culmination project that compared the author's work to other authors. During this year long process, it is my hope that the more reluctant readers will also connect with an author that will open up the world of literature for them and help to make them life long learners. There are many wonderful young adult authors on the market these days, but the more current the book, the more expensive it is. Most of my of my students do not have access to a book store or a well-stocked library in their neighborhoods.
I would like to have 40 copies of current titles by some of the most popular young adult authors such as Sharon M. Draper, Sarah Dessen, Richard Peck, and Will Hobbs - just to name a few. With these high interest titles at their disposal, I know my students will find their year long study a joy instead of just another assignment. Thank you in advance for helping to make my students life long readers.
