My Project

My students are eager readers who thrive when they have access to high‑interest, engaging texts that inspire imagination and critical thinking. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is a powerful novel that captures students’ attention while strengthening reading comprehension, vocabulary, and analytical skills.

With this project, I am requesting 40 copies of The Lightning Thief to create a complete classroom set so every student can fully participate in our novel study without sharing or falling behind.

Having individual copies allows students to annotate, track character development, and engage deeply in discussions and written responses.

To support motivation and positive classroom culture, I am also requesting candy for incentives that help reward effort, growth, and perseverance during reading and writing activities. These incentives encourage students—especially reluctant readers—to stay engaged and take academic risks.

This project will give my students equitable access to meaningful literature, increase their confidence as readers, and foster a lifelong love of books. Thank you for supporting my classroom and investing in my students’ learning.
