My Project

As a middle school behavioral specialist, my job is to make sure my babies are following the rules and expectations no matter what! However, as a human being, I know that sometimes it can be very difficult to focus and be productive on an empty stomach. Which is why I am asking for help purchasing a multitude of on the go treats and drinks. A bag of chips or a bottle of water doesn’t seem like much but can change a student’s mood and make a huge difference in the way they perform in class. Offering a student, a sweet treat after they’ve had a tough time can help to uplift and get them through the rest of the day. When coming to school after a long night or hard time at home, having someone offer a hug and a treat with kind words, can truly turn a young person day around.

Not only will these treats help nourish their appetites, they can help nourish my opportunities to build beneficial, healthy relationships with my students.

I strongly feel that if there are no relationships between adults and students, it can be very difficult to connect to some of them. Not having a rapport with students makes it harder for them to understand, follow, and give action to the rules or discipline you are trying to establish. Through these grab and go treats I will continue to build relationships that will allow my students and I to establish the principles I stand on while given me the chance to get to know them and their stories. With these strong relationships, I will better engage with my students allowing me to better support them when in need. Thank you!
