Nourishing Body & Mind: A Warm, Welcoming Sanctuary Through Gaming

Help me give my students a warm, inclusive sanctuary by providing snacks, cozy seating, and cooperative video games for Open Game Days, satisfying their physical hunger, offering emotional care, and building lasting connections.

My Project

When students walk through our doors, many carry stress, anxiety, and the real-world pressures of coming from underfunded households. Some arrive hungry after a long day; others simply need a warm, gentle space where they feel safe, valued, and able to relax.

That is why we are expanding our Open Game Days to create a true restorative oasis across our four gaming stations (PC, Switch, Xbox, and PS5), so multiple groups can play together.

Holding a controller alongside a peer turns an intimidating social situation into a comforting connection, teaching empathy, self-regulation, and team spirit through shared play. However, cozy play requires a cozy environment. With your generosity, this project will proide a variety of healthy, energizing snacks so every student can refuel their bodies after school while connecting with peers. Soft, warm gaming blankets will make our classroom feel like a comfortable home away from home. Cozy, cooperative video games and extra controllers for all three console stations will give every student, regardless of background, a seat in the circle and a chance to recharge.

Your contribution feeds both body and spirit, ensuring no student goes hungry, cold, or disconnected. Thank you for helping us build a space where every student feels cared for, fed, and loved!
