This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have just arrived in the United States from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. Many have left loved ones behind and faced dangers along the way to the US. Their new school is a Title I school in Houston, Texas where 94% of their fellow classmates are economically disadvantaged.

Despite the proverbial deck being stacked against them, my students are happy to be in the US, excited to learn English, and are looking forward to high school and college.

Every day, I am grateful for the chance to teach these unique children and watch them grow into successful young ladies and gentlemen.

My Project

My students have just arrived in the United States from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Not only are they in a new country and away from their family, but they are in a large urban school with specific rules for uniforms and backpacks. They have endured long and dangerous journeys in order to get to the safety of the US. These basic school supplies are things we will use EVERY day. Thankfully with your help, I will be able to make sure all my students have the school supplies they need in order to be successful in their first American school.
