My students are my children. For 7-9 hours a day, I get to be with these kids and we learn together, laugh together, and have fun together. My students range from K-8 and I'd like to think that my "classroom" is their time to really express themselves and figure out where they can put all their focus and energy. I say my "classroom" because I am the PE Coach and my "classroom" is either outside on the field or on the black top.
My students will come with attitudes and sometimes negative energy but by the time my class is over they all leave my class with smiling faces or excitement for what's to come next time.
PE class isn't just another recess for the kids, it's the opportunity to let them succeed in their strengths and then work on their weaknesses whether it's their attitudes, behaviors, emotions, etc. I believe sports and education are hand and, hand and my goal is to help change kids lives through sports every day.
My Project
The materials will prove to the students that we are putting effort into getting them the best and updated equipment needed to succeed. Having the little things makes such a difference for these students because they can see that teachers do care and want them to have nice things. I want to keep my students active and to continue to have a love for sports and to learn to respect the sport. Some of these kids are used to the old beat up equipment, so they do not take care of things. By providing the new equipment, they can begin to see what a privilege it is to be apart of a team and that hard working teams get rewarded.
