This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I loved school when I was a student. It is my goal that my students love school just as much as I did. It's one of the reasons why I chose to become a teacher. All students at my school, which is located in the inner city outside of Los Angeles, California, receive free lunch. The majority of the students in my school are English Language Learners.

I work hard each day to create a supportive environment where my students can thrive either in person or at home.

I am requesting new books for our classroom library. My students will have the opportunity to foster the love of reading with these new books being added to our classroom library. My students will be able to immerse themselves in another world as they explore the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

I have been teaching for 18 years, many of the books in my classroom library have been with me since the beginning. They are starting to tear, fall apart and look old and shabby. I want to refresh my library with this series that my students love. I want to be able to cover these books with clear contact paper to help them last another 18 years.
