Your generosity has allowed us to expand learning opportunities in ways that have truly inspired our class.\r\n\r\nWhile our original plan evolved as the year progressed, we were able to pivot toward using 3D printing to bring history to life in our classroom. Students have been designing and printing historical artifacts connected to the civilizations we study, from ancient Sumer to Greece. This hands-on approach has increased engagement, creativity, and problem-solving while helping students make stronger connections to history.\r\n\r\nAs our students continue developing their design and printing skills, we are now working toward an exciting long-term goal: creating pieces of a historical suit of armor. This project will combine history, engineering, art, and technology while giving students an opportunity to collaborate and build confidence through meaningful work.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped provide our students with opportunities they would not otherwise have had. For our youngest students in kindergarten through second grade, the Boomwhackers have been a joyful introduction to playing melodies together. They follow along with Boomwhacker play‑along videos, learning to match pitch, rhythm, and musical form as a group. They also love combining Boomwhacker parts with percussion instruments to explore musical patterns. Many classes now ask to play the Boomwhackers as an end‑of‑class reward, which is a sign of how motivating and exciting these instruments have become.\r\n\r\nOur upper‑elementary students have been just as enthusiastic. Third through sixth graders enjoy using the Boomwhackers as a warm‑up, especially when practicing how to play at different tempos. The whiteboards have become an essential tool for building musicianship. Third and fourth graders used them to practice writing musical staffs and notes as part of their recorder journey, while fifth and sixth graders used them to support their continued growth on ukulele and piano. Having their own whiteboard has helped students participate more confidently and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful impacts has been with our special education students. The Boomwhackers have become the highlight of their day. These instruments give them a melodic outlet that goes far beyond the egg shakers and jingle sticks they were limited to before. They love playing along with videos, hearing themselves contribute to a group sound, and experiencing success through clear visual and auditory cues. The Boomwhackers have allowed them to participate musically in a way that feels empowering, joyful, and accessible.\r\n\r\nThese materials have created a classroom where every child can make music, explore sound, and feel successful. Thank you for helping our students learn, create, and grow through meaningful musical experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1766347163409,"projectUrl":"project/making-music-accessible-for-every-learne/9951079/","projectTitle":"Making Music Accessible for Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10378892_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765946075386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10378892"},{"teacherId":10378892,"projectId":9961236,"letterContent":"Our new piano books have brought a refreshing and meaningful change to our classroom. Students use the binders during our piano rotations: one group practices independently with their guided book while the other group works with me on music theory. This structure has helped students stay focused, organized, and engaged. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group proudly perform a song they had learned for the class. This showed just how much ownership they now feel over their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited. Many of them had never held their own music book before, and having something that belonged to them made the experience feel special. They were eager to explore the keyboards, choose different piano sounds, and begin learning their first songs. The materials immediately boosted their motivation and curiosity.\r\n\r\nA meaningful part of this project has been exposing students to diverse musicians. I introduced them to Black pianists such as Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, and each piano station now includes a label featuring a Black or Hispanic pianist or composer. Students see these names every time they rotate, helping them recognize that musicians and composers come from many backgrounds, including ones that reflect their own. This representation has sparked conversations, curiosity, and pride.\r\n\r\nWe have also seen tremendous growth in student confidence. As students practiced and saw their progress in their piano books, they began taking more ownership of their learning. Many who were once hesitant to participate started volunteering to perform for the class. Some chose to play in small groups, while others bravely performed solo. Watching them stand taller and share their music with pride has been one of the most meaningful outcomes of this project.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our students involve continuing to build their piano skills while applying their strengthened music‑theory knowledge to new projects. Their improved rhythm reading has already translated into stronger percussion playing for our spring concert music. Students are becoming faster, more confident musicians, and these piano books will continue supporting their growth throughout the year and for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1766195691952,"projectUrl":"project/our-first-piano-book-opening-doors-to-m/9961236/","projectTitle":"Our First Piano Book: Opening Doors to Music","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10378892_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765946075386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10378892"},{"teacherId":7756959,"projectId":9600481,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our project, \"Printing, Writing, and Creating Together.\" Because of your generosity, our classroom now has the tools we need to bring our students' ideas to life. The printer and materials have enabled students to see their work progress from simple thoughts on paper to finished projects they can hold, share, and be proud of. Being able to print learning materials, writing activities, and creative projects has made a big difference in how students engage with their learning each day.\r\n\r\nTechnology in our classroom helps students practice important academic skills in meaningful ways. When students complete writing assignments, phonics activities, and math tasks, they can see their work printed clearly and organized in ways that support their understanding. This helps them focus, stay motivated, and take pride in their work. Many of my students benefit from visual and hands-on learning, and having access to printed materials allows them to engage with lessons in ways that strengthen their reading, writing, and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most is seeing their work become something real and shareable. They love printing their stories, worksheets, and creative projects to place in their folders or take home to their families. Some students who were previously hesitant to write or complete assignments have become much more confident because they know their finished work will be printed and displayed.
