This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classes consist of approximately 150 students from low socioeconomic and diverse racial backgrounds. Many of my students come from homes where parents do not have a college education.
It is the school's objective to ensure that the students are on the path to being college and career-ready by the time they leave middle school.
However, this isn't easy because many students read two to three grade levels below the national average. To create greater opportunities for success, we strive to create challenging and engaging lessons that students find exciting.
My Project
COVID-19 and its other variants have had a tremendous impact on how we conduct ourselves in the classroom. Prior to the epidemic, students would always share books. However, now it is important that each student has his or her own copy of the novel being studied. Also, having individual copies of the novel provides students with more confidence and increases learning outcomes because the novels provide an opportunity for students to interact with the text through annotations.
Each student will be given his or her own novel.
This will help avoid sharing materials and will increase students' confidence in the text they are reading.
