This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a performing arts school in an urban district in NJ. Students audition to enter our school and must be able to excel, not only in the arts, but in their academic classes.
My students are truly some of the most amazing people I know.
They are kind, talented, and hardworking. I ask 110% of them on a daily basis and they work to meet the challenge. On average, with hard work our students have a 100% high school graduation rate.
My Project
As we study history it's important to be that my students become good journalists and not only write history and news as they occur but also look at pieces written by other journalists with a critical eye. It's also important for them to spot lies or fake news.
After learning about propaganda and fake news, my students will use the Echo Show and headphone to watch various news reports.
They will then conduct research and writing their own journalistic pieces on current events and history. They will use the thumb drives to store their work and we can use the shelves for them to store and organize the articles and research that they find.
