Not Afraid To Get Our Hands Dirty!

My students need to put their hands into soil to learn how we are all connected to the earth.

My Students

This group of kindergartners is electrifying. They are filled with curiosity. They are eager to be involved. They can handle a great deal of responsibility. They like going places and doing things, such as working on projects, experimenting, and working with each other. They are attentive, industrious, and successful.

Their “can do” attitude combined with their cooperation and responsibility makes them a delight to teach and work with.

I believe my students have a tremendous capacity to learn because they are adventurous and enterprising. Which is why having an elevated garden, just their size, right outside our door, will be so useful this year.

My Project

Nature study teaches children to appreciate nature and the world around them. It naturally offers hands on opportunities, sowing the seeds, watering, and measuring growth.

Science through nature is a way to expose my kindergartners to a knowledge on which other science concepts are formed: such as the scientific method of questioning, hypothesizing, experimenting, and forming conclusions, as well as, becoming accustom to using their five senses to investigate and explore their world, all while gaining academic skills and respect for the earth.

Having the ability to create our own little ecosystem right outside our classroom, will encourage students to feel a responsibility to what they chose to investigate and stay connected to their explorations. I am requesting Garden Bucket Caddy, Bucket Tool Organiziner Tool Bag, Potting Soil, Green Fence for Garden Bed to make our garden.

Of course, spending much of the academic day indoors is typical for my students, having a classroom garden lab; will extend our classroom to the outside.
