These students have expressed a deep interest in science and engineering. They are willing to stay after school to become more involved in science and engineering. There is not enough time in the normal school day to satisfy their desire to become the scientists, engineers and researchers of tomorrow. As we are a Title One school our resources do not permit funds for supplies to become competitive in the Regional Science Olympiad in March 2019. Our school has begun Science Olympiad training, however, we are severely handicapped in not having the kits to begin training for those events. It is so exciting as a teacher to see the thrill in our students when they have the opportunity to be at an event with hundreds of other students with like minds. And it is especially thrilling when one of them places. These students will carry this excitement on propelling them to excel in a STEM career.
My Project
Wards Scientific has all of the Science Olympiad kits necessary for our students to begin training. It is practically impossible to prepare for several of the events without the kits. Specifically we need the following kits: Circuit Lab, Battery Buggy, Chemistry lab, Elastic Glider, Boomilever, Crime Busters, Forensics, Potions and Poisons, Roller Coaster, Thermodynamics, and Wright Stuff.
We are a relatively new school to the Regional Science Olympiad and therefore need a lot of help to really get our program progressing.
We appreciate any help with the expense of the kits from Wards Scientific. In the previous two years our students were not able to even compete in all of the events as we could not afford to purchase the kits required for for the training and competition. Our students are preparing for the competition by doing research into the events. With the addition of the kits we will become more competitive in the regional event.
