Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in NY. Most of our students come from low income families. Our class is an ICT classroom which provides supports to students with disabilities. The disabilities range from speech-language to autism. An ICT classroom has both general education students and special education students who work in groups to help each other. We use all the resources that are possible and given to us to help our students make progress.
Our students work hard with all the resources and materials that they have.
We enjoy seeing our students working together in partnerships.
My Project
My students enjoy learning facts through informational text. My students learn through a variety of sources on a daily basis. We already have baskets of nonfiction books, however they would enjoy colorful photographs like the ones in the magazine TIME For Kids. I want my students to know that information doesn't only come from books but multiple sources. TIME For Kids is a wonderful resource for them to use.
Photographs are a great resource to engage students.
TIME For Kids will help my students learn about places, current events and history. My students will work in groups and pairs to learn new facts through these classroom magazines. My students will observe photographs and learn more informational facts.
