My first graders attend Friendship Learning Center in the School District of North Fond du Lac. The majority of the students are disadvantaged and qualify for free and reduced lunch. They have made a lot of progress with their reading this year! It's been wonderful to see them enjoy their books!
My students love to read!
One of our units focuses on reading nonfiction books. They know that to become an expert, they can read about that subject. They have learned about animals, weather, and many other topics.
They work hard reading independently and with partners each day. I'm very proud of them! They would love to have more books to choose from.
My Project
My students love to learn by reading nonfiction books, but many books are too difficult for my struggling readers. I would like to buy nonfiction books in Levels A-G to provide choices for my students.
I would like to have nonfiction books that are accessible to all of my students, even those that are reading below grade level.
I'd like to provide books that are easy enough for them to read with topics that are of interest to them. I also would like to have nonfiction books as an option in my Listening Center.
